Who we are

BrewNearYou (www.brewnearyou.com) helps you find independent coffee shops in the UK. If you have a question about this policy or your data, message us on Instagram at @brewnearyou.

What we don't collect

There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no advertising trackers, no analytics and no cookies on BrewNearYou. We don't currently accept reviews or comments.

Your location

When you tap Search Now, your browser asks whether to share your location. If you allow it, your approximate coordinates are sent to our server only to find cafés near you. We use them to answer that search and don't store them or link them to you.

If you type a town, village or postcode instead, we send that text to our server. To turn it into a map position we may pass it to postcodes.io or OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service.

Technical data

Like any website, the services that run BrewNearYou see your IP address and basic request details. Cloudflare sits in front of the site for security and speed, and Render hosts the server. Their standard logs are kept for a short time for security and troubleshooting. Our own logs record which part of the site was used, not your location.

Some parts of pages load directly from other services: map tiles from OpenFreeMap, maps on café pages from OpenStreetMap, and some café photos from Wikimedia Commons. These services see your IP address when your browser fetches them.

Links to other sites

Café websites, Instagram, Google Maps directions and roaster shops are run by others and have their own privacy policies. Some links to roasters may in future be affiliate links, which means we could earn a small commission if you buy. We will say so on the page if that happens.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we don't keep personal data about visitors, there will usually be nothing to find, but please ask. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how BrewNearYou uses data, we'll update this page and the date below.
